What?

  • Designed a fully articulated mechanical horse model powered by an engine concept, aiming to replicate the natural gait of a galloping horse through precise linkage motion.

  • Focused on simulating realistic biomechanics through a complete 3D skeletal and gear-driven motion system.

How?

  • Developed the entire skeletal frame and limb linkage system in SOLIDWORKS, ensuring synchronized motion between front and rear legs.

  • Applied mechanism design principles and gear-train optimization to convert rotary input from the crankshaft into linear limb movement.

  • Utilized motion studies and mates in SOLIDWORKS to analyze stride rhythm, stability, and force transfer during galloping cycles.

Results

  • Achieved smooth, life-like motion of all four legs, demonstrating accurate gait transitions (walk → trot → gallop).

  • Presented as part of a collaborative design project integrating mechanical dynamics, CAD modeling, and motion simulation.

  • Ranked among the Top 5 Best SOLIDWORKS Video Projects in the course for realism and technical execution.
